Supernatural Cooties

Denise R Dahlheimer

Among children, cooties are an imaginary germ with which a socially undesirable person, or one of the opposite sex, is said to be infected. If I remember right, it was often instigated by a young girl who liked a certain boy but could not let them know lest they be found out. Much like a young boy pulling the hair of his intended sweetheart, showing off to the guys lest they think he was weak and "innnnn lo-o-o-o-vvvve" with her. And on occasion, the bullies would use this form of psychological and sometimes physical torture to ostracize one who was different, be it wearing glasses, being small, being big, mostly just being. But I digress; this is about just the cooties themselves.

Imaginary or not, there really are supernatural cooties (aka demon's darts), and the closer you walk with Jesus, the more one becomes the target of them. I came in contact with them on a recent road trip vacation. Each night, whether it was the same room or not, I was inundated with the worst dreams. And each night, should I forget to turn my dreams over to God and ask Him to capture my thoughts and make them His own, I would wake up in a cold sweat, for I had been infected with these cooties from hell. Did I lie there in the stink? No! I called upon my God and my Protector. "Oh, Jesus, I am so sorry I forgot to ask you to bless me this night as I slept. I was so tired, and I did not think. Forgive me. Protect me. I ask you to capture my thoughts and make them your own. Tell me your stories and talk to me of your love as I sleep. Thank you, Father." And I would go back to sleep and dream of good things.

Yes, these rooms are in a constant state of collecting supernatural DNA from its multitudes of travelers. Ewwww. Those embracing the dark side leave their cooties where they live eat, breathe, sleep... and these bugs wish to live and propagate on new material. Protect yourself! Wear the armor. Satan and his demons are your enemies. And they will use everyone and everything they can to distract, discourage, and destroy you.

Cleaning removes nothing. Demons laugh at our antibacterial attempts. They will seep through any mask to invade anyone's thoughts, and the Holy Spirit just gave me a vision of the feeble attempts to "sage" a room. The vision was of a cluster of demons fighting for first place to inhale this sage smoke like an aphrodisiac. Yes, I caught supernatural cooties by someone I never saw or ever met. Someone who was a sinner or just evil who had left their calling card. But God cleansed me and protected me. I believe the reason He allowed it was to tell me about this trap that many of us fall victim to. Ignorance and forgetfulness give no one a pass. The demons are ruthless in making their quota.

I am also made to learn that if a mere stranger can harm you like this, just imagine the harm caused by being in the vicinity of the one you may know personally. Be cautious with whom you share your space.

We are not to be giving attention to evil but to focus on the face of Jesus. "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me" (Psalm 23:4 NIV). The Bible tells us that God is stronger than any evil power and we can find protection in the presence of God. Staying close to our Shepherd keeps us safe.

Sarah Koontz said, "We were so focused on what we could see, we failed to account for the unseen." This is huge! We get so wrapped up in their story we miss the effects it can have on ourselves. We let our guard down because we love them, and contrarily enough... did not love as God commanded us. We bit what the devil offered. We are not to plead, coerce, beg, argue, judge, make assumptions, etc. We are only to love. Even though. Even if. Hmmm... maybe I should not have rolled my eyes at my husband's attempt at humor. Maybe. Lol.

It says in Deuteronomy 23:14, "For the LORD your God moves about in your camp to protect you and to deliver your enemies to you. Your camp must be holy, so that he will not see among you anything indecent and turn away from you." How does it get unholy? Our thoughts. Our words. Our actions.

I leave you with Ephesians 6:12, "For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens."

Till the other side then. Be blessed. Denise.
