No carrot. No stick.

Denise R Dahlheimer

Three times yesterday The Holy Spirit brought to me “the carrot on a stick” mentality many of us succumb to as if we are reliving a childhood cartoon over and over running our Christianity like a gauntlet.

There is no carrot dangling in front of us, we already have our reward, Jesus here and now. The only thing we should be running to is in becoming more like Him. There is no stick as God does not punish as He knows who He is dealing with. He is kind and gentle and as He knows the plans He sets for us, rest assured all is right on time. Yeahhh but… when we think we are praying enough, saying the right prayers, thanking Him for answers in the making and disaster and folly loom, our pulses quicken. Our minds shriek “Delay! Delay! Delay!!” so then we double down on our prayers and praises and our soul focus is now on the delay itself.

Even David in Psalms went from “My soul waits in silence for God only; from Him is my salvation” (Ps. 62:1) to see if zipping his lip and exercising more faith would produce results. And when it didn’t He went in with reverse psychology when he went all in on “I am weary with my crying; my throat is parched; my eyes fail while I wait for my God” (Ps. 69:3).

The delay itself became the idol replacing the answer and it will trip a new lesson in what it means to let it go.

If you want your prayers answered, give the entirety of them to God. The need, the want, the expectation, the results, the timing, etc. and step out of the “you know better than God” persona and realize you have other things to do in the meantime.

Art! On the Outskirts is the new project of entreating mountains via

art on and beyond the canvas, exploring how faith, nature, and creativity intersect.

This project is a journey of discovering the depths of faith with art as a tool to sustain healing in my life.

I may not walk on water as Jesus did, but I am staying afloat through life lessons.

Go Back! this is THE END of my blog!

If the world was flat, you would  now fall off here :)
