Like a Duck to Water.

Denise R Dahlheimer

🎶 “Rain. Rain go away. Come again another day.“ Well it did! It's raining again. Mama said that there’d be days like this and we do our best to be prepared. We buy umbrellas just in case. pocket size, purse size, back pack size, giant-who-cares size. All in protection from the elements of which we have no control.

But about those umbrellas... sure they keep you covered as well a doing a fairly decent job of insulating us from the experience. Have you ever noticed people walking in the rain with an umbrella? They look at their feet! They trust their feet to take them where they need to go. Be it one step, two steps or twenty-five steps to the curb, they trust their feet that they will know when they get there! Oh but what all have they missed along the way?! How far did they go before they realized they missed out on the entire walk? And what did they miss? Flower shops exhaling things that candle makers dream of. The bakery shop window enticing the child in us with visions of a sugar land retreat. Oh the shoe store! We missed the smell and remembering the feel of new shoes! Awww and we missed having a rare personal talk with our kid as we hustled ourselves out of the rain.

The group Casting Crowns sings "Praise you in the Storm and it plays in my heart as I paint this.

🎶 "I was sure by now God

You would have reached down and wiped our tears away,

stepped in and saved the day.

But once again, I say “Amen”

and it’s still raining

As the thunder rolls

I barely hear Your whisper through the rain “I’m with you”.

And as Your mercy falls, I raise my hands and praise the God who gives and takes away.

And I’ll praise You in this storm.

And I will lift my hands

for You are who You are no matter where I am.

And every tear I’ve cried You hold in Your hand. You never left my side and though my heart is torn,

I will praise You in this storm...".

My thoughts continue of the 23rd Psalm, "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake."and even as the still waters get disturbed by rain drops, with God, rain is a blessing. It says in Acts 4:17 ”Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.” He sends to you The Comforter, The Holy Spirit, to get you through the tough times and makes your joy full in the good times. This oil is called 'Jump. I AM with you.' The only way through the storms is to praise Jesus for them. The following is a prayer to finding the only true and real counseling you seek.

O Holy Spirit, I have my own expectations about what I should and should not do. I now surrender to You my ideas, my limitations, my preferences, and my goals. Fill me, Holy Spirit, with all Your supernatural gifts! Empower me to accept and grow in the supernatural life as much as the early disciples did. I want to be useful to You. I want to go where You lead me. Holy Spirit, send me forth gifted and empowered to make a difference spreading the Good News of God’s forgiving love.

Come, Holy Spirit; renew me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Enjoy the rains. Enjoy the puddles. Just enjoy. Umbrellas can be turned upside down to catch blessing after blessing after blessing. Throw down the insulator, trust Jesus, the clouds will go. The SON is peaking through wanting you to just look up. Ask!

in closing, Psalms 119:18 Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.

see you on the other side. Jump!

Art! On the Outskirts is the new project of entreating mountains via

art on and beyond the canvas, exploring how faith, nature, and creativity intersect.

This project is a journey of discovering the depths of faith with art as a tool to sustain healing in my life.

I may not walk on water as Jesus did, but I am staying afloat through life lessons.

Go Back! this is THE END of my blog!

If the world was flat, you would  now fall off here :)
