There I was minding my own business and on a long distance errand run that took me through the flatlands of my youth. I was singing along to the radio and enjoying the ride when I was drawn to a crow perched upon a street sign called Crown Way. Crown Way? Out in the area with lovely road names like 139th Street SW? Okay then Lord you have my attention. Note to self!
I continued to see crowns and crows everywhere. So whats the deal with the crows? I read that they are known to spend much of their time feeding greedily upon carnage. That their color of jet black is linked as a symbol of darkness and represents Satan in some religions as unrest and ill-fortune and reinforced as a direct link to the presence of crows at battlefields, ready to dine upon the dead. Yet God has a fondness for them and as in I Kings 17: 5 it is said "So Elijah did what the LORD had told him, and he went and lived by the Brook Cherith, east of the Jordan. 6 The ravens would bring him bread and meat in the morning and evening, and he would drink from the brook. 7 Some time later, however, the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land."
I have to share "do you know why you never see a crow dead on the road? well because his buddies are up on the wire watching out for him and calling car car car" Ba-dump-bump. Sorry not sorry ;)
"Okay then Lord I am always your willing vessel". And so this piece began. And then came the skewed pocket watch lassoed to the church steeple being pecked to pieces by another crow. All being swept into the portal made up of the blood drops of Jesus. I found it interesting that the crow is perched upon the Crown Way signage and not the Church Street. Watching. Observing. Revelations 13:13 "...fire come down out of the sky to the earth in the sight of people."
Curious that there are eight crows pictured here... there is a nursery rhyme that tells:
One for sorrow, two for mirth,
Three for a wedding, four for a birth,
Five for silver, six for gold,
Seven for a secret not to be told.
Eight for heaven, nine for hell,
And ten for the devil's own self'.

As I am painting this one I hear in my thoughts the song that
Paul Simon sings... Slip slidin' away
You know the nearer your destination
The more you're slip slidin' away
God only knows, God makes his plan
The information's unavailable to the mortal man
We're working our jobs, collect our pay
Believe we're gliding down the highway
When in fact we're slip slidin' away...
And if that's not enough going on Revelations is also in the house! In particular Revelations 3:7 “To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:
"These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. 8 I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. 9 I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars—I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you.10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth. 11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. 12 The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name. 13 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches."
And with that comes here is Slip Sliding'.
